SOFA Fantasy Football League
IDP LEAGUE RULES

The members of the SOFA IDP League have agreed to meet on the virtual battlefield of the Internet and abide by the following rules.

I. League

A. The league will be comprised of twelve teams split into three divisions.

B. Teams will be randomly placed into divisions initially, and then will remain in that division for the duration of team ownership.

C. The league will be operated and scored in a head-to-head format. The winner of the head-to-head playoffs will be honored as the League Champion.

D. Each team will be operated by a Team Owner as designated by the sponsoring fantasy football site or service. All league matters and communications will be filtered through this Team Owner as a representative of the sponsoring site or service.

III. Rosters

A. SOFA IDP is a redraft league. No players are kept from one year to the next.

B. Each team will carry 28 players on it's official roster.

C. There are no position limits for a team roster. Each team must, however, carry the minimum amount of players at each position to submit a legal starting lineup.

D. Player position eligibility will be determined by the league management service utilized by the league. Any position eligibility disputes must be addresed to the SOFA Commissioner.

E. There will be two injured reserve (IR) positions per team. A player is eligible for these IR positons only if on the NFL Injured Reserve list or listed as OUT on the Official NFL Injury Report released weekly. These IR positions do not count against a team's 28 regular roster spots.

IV. Starting Lineups

A. Starting lineups must be in the following format: 1 Quarterback, 2 Running Backs, 3 Wide Receivers, 1 Tight End, 1 Kicker, 2 Defensive Linemen, 3 Linebackers and 2 Defensive Backs.

B. The standard deadline for submitting starting lineups will be the start of the Sunday games. However, if a team has starting players in any game taking place before Sunday, then only those players starting must be declared prior to the start of those early games.

C. If an owner fails to submit a starting lineup by the deadline, then the previous week’s lineup will serve as the default starting lineup. That lineup will be used regardless of players being on bye weeks, injured, or traded. For the first week of the season, a team will lose by default if no starting lineup is submitted by the appropriate deadline. If an illegal lineup is submitted, the lineup will be treated as invalid the previous week’s lineup will be used.

V. Draft

A. The draft will be conducted in a serpentine manner for 28 rounds. Odd numbered rounds are selected in the order 1 through 12. Even numbered rounds are reversed and selected in the order 12 thorough 1.

B. The draft order will be determined prior to each season using the standard randomization feature within the league management service.

C. The draft will be run over the Internet using the web based league management services of MyFantasyLeague.com.

D. Draft picks may not be traded.

E. The time of the draft will be determined at a reasonable time prior to the beginning of each SOFA season. The goal will be to complete the draft a week prior to the start of the NFL regular season.

VI. Free Agency

A. Free agents shall be awarded through a system of waiver submissions. A waiver submission is only valid if it includes both the name of the player to be waived and the name of the player to be acquired. All waiver claims must be submitted through the web based league management service.

B. Free agents will be awarded based on both a ranked system and an open system. The ranked system will have a cutoff time each week (currently Thursdays at Noon PST). At that time all waivers will be processed and awarded based on the team's winning percentage, head-to-head record, total points scored, and divisional winning percentage. From the point that all ranked waivers have been awarded until Sunday at 10:00am PST waivers will be awarded in an open system on a first come, first serve basis.

C. No player waivers will be accepted after kickoff of the NFL games in week 16.

VII. Trades

A. Trading between teams is unlimited.

B. At the conclusion of each week’s trading, all involved team’s roster must meet the official size of 28 players.

D. Trades may not be made for cash, future considerations, or a player or pick to be named later.

E. The last week for trading will be week 10 of the NFL regular season. All trades must be consummated prior to the kickoff of the first game of week 10.

VIII. Schedule and Playoffs

A. The regular season schedule will consist of thirteen games beginning in week 1 of the NFL regular season and ending after week 13. Each team will have six division games (two against each division opponent) and seven inter-division games. The schedule will be created each season using the standard randomization feature within the league management service.

B. The playoffs begin in week 14. The teams making the playoffs will consist of the three division winners and the top three wildcard teams. In week 14, the top two division winners will have a bye-week. The third division winner will host the third place wildcard team. The 1st place wildcard team will host the 2nd place wildcard team.
